Konami Japan has announced Contra Rebirth is coming to the Wii via WiiWare in Japan this summer.
Not much is known about the game other than the fact that it’s supposedly an all-new Contra adventure, borrowing liberally from previous titles in the series, similar to Gradius Rebirth. By looking at the screenshots, the game has a distinct Contra III: Alien Wars feel, which is a good thing… because that game freakin’ ruled. Contra Rebirth will feature cooperative support, likely offline only.
The title will be available on in Japan on May 11 for 1,000 Wii Points. There are no details on a North American release at this time.
