Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve‘s PVP will require you to master PSM, or Post Stall Maneuver, to get an ace over your opponents, and this is easier said than done. With enough practice, you will get outstanding in PSM and escape tight situations, which also includes breaking missile locks.

However, let’s first understand how the mechanism works since there’s no dedicated buttons to press to execute this.

How to perform PSM in Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve

Here are all the key steps to perform the PSM in Ace Combat 8.

  • First, you’ll need to use a jet that has PSM. Yes, you don’t get this feature with all jets in the game, and I have made a list of models below that has confirmed PSM feature.
  • Reduce the flight speed to 500 km/h, but don’t go into a stall.
  • Leave the throttle so that your jet can approach a neutral state.
  • Press the throttle (Spacebar) and decelerate (Ctrl) together.
  • Once you enter the High-G mode, wait for at least half a second.
  • Press the S to move upwards while you’re in the High-G.
  • Once your jet is vertically at 90 degrees, you’ll enter post-stall.
  • Immediately hit the throttle to recover. Congratulations, you have performed a PSM.

Here are two important things to remember. First, don’t move upwards immediately after you enter High-G. Wait for a second (half is ideal) before doing so. Second, reduce the speed to below 500 km/h.
