Konami notes ‘desire’ for new Castlevania on Switch

What if they turned things around?

Can Konami get back into people’s good graces? Maybe. I mean if Mel Gibson can come back into Hollywood with an Academy Award nomination anything is possible.

European Brand Manager Richard Jones spoke to Miketendo64 about Super Bomberman R, but opened up about far more than that. Noting that they have “plenty of ideas” for updates for the game, he also stated, “there is lots of internal discussions going on within Konami regarding what games we can bring to the Nintendo Switch, other than Bomberman, a game which we are well aware of its heritage and how loved it and Castlevania is. So much so that Castlevania is getting is getting its own show on Netflix and because of that, we’re hearing a lot of desires from our fans for a new Castlevania series. So we do know there is a demand for a new game, but right now nothing is set in stone as the discussions are still on going.”

Note that this is Konami Europe, not the infamously hardened Konami Japan that’s speaking — the latter of which completely iced out one of their most beloved employees, and is more keen on expanding into the Pachislot arena than gaming. That said there are plenty of other companies that are diversifying in gambling and gaming, like Sega and SNK who are making it work. If enough time passes and Konami makes a Castlevania that’s better than Bloodstained, it’ll be an interesting spectacle to watch.
