Good for you, Sony. Glad you finally (almost) figured this cost thing out.

When I bought my day-one PS3, it cost me $600. That hurt, but it hurt Sony more, as the system cost them over $800 to make. Things have since changed for the better on both sides. The new, redesigned PS3 costs only $299, and Cnet reports that Sony’s cost is down to only $336 per system, according to a parts analysis.

What’s even more encouraging is that the analysis says that costs could come down even more, letting Sony *gasp* actually make a profit on the PS3s. The bastards still have my $600, though.
