How to unlock the full auto Desert Eagle in MW2

Unwieldy but undeniably powerful

The Modern Warfare 2 Season 3 Reloaded update dropped a few new additions, including some new weaponry. Of the new weapons, the Desert Eagle GS Magna is one of the most impressive. This new handgun is only the second fully automatic pistol after the X13 Auto.

The GS Magna offers unique gameplay by letting players hold down the trigger and blast away opponents with ease. The best part is that it has intense damage that can quickly decimate foes. However, this power comes at a cost, as it is quite unwieldy and hard to use. Unlike the X13 Auto, it is challenging to control this gun in combat, so it is best used at closer ranges.

Thankfully, it gets better when you trick it out with attachments, such as the Akimbo that lets you dual-wield two GS Magna weapons at once.

The GS Magna is honestly one of the best pistols in Modern Warfare 2. Its fully automatic feature makes it stand out among the mostly semi-auto and revolver-style handguns. However, you’ll have to go through some steps to unlock it.

Currently, there are two main ways to unlock the GS Magna.

Extract from DMZ

First, it is possible to get the GS Magna through the popular DMZ game mode. Players need to hop into a match and locate the GS Magna while there. At that point, you need to successfully exfil from the map by heading to one of the exfiltration points.

If you achieve this without dying or losing the GS Magna, you’ll instantly have the handgun available in your collection.

.50 GS Weapon challenge

For those who don’t want to spend any money on the Desert Eagle GS Magna weapon, your best bet is to complete its Season 3 weapon challenge. You can unlock it for free, without the Battle Pass, by completing the following mission:

  • Get 30 headshot eliminations using the .50 GS

The .50 GS is the base version of this weapon, and you’ll need to use it quite a lot to unlock the GS Magna version. Getting 30 headshot eliminations is difficult to accomplish with this slow-firing but powerful weapon.

I suggest hopping into Team Deathmatch and smaller playlists like Shipment 24/7 and Shoot House 24/7, where you have plenty of opponents to get headshots against. It will take a considerable amount of time, but it is possible to unlock the GS Magna in MW2 for free this way.

For those who don’t have the time to complete a weapon challenge or play DMZ to unlock the GS Magna, the easiest way to get it would be through a premium store bundle. Unfortunately, there is no store bundle available yet for this weapon; we expect this in Season 4 or beyond.
