The mischievous trickster Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas has arrived in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Although the process of getting most characters is fairly straightforward, Oogie Boogie’s a complicated guy, which means unlocking him is rather tricky.

In addition to being a tough character to unlock, Oogie Boogie is also a limited-time one, which means you have to get some key tasks done within a specific timeframe to recruit him. There’s a lot to the process, so here’s how to unlock Oogie Boogie in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How to get Oogie Boogie in Disney Dreamlight Valley

You can unlock Oogie Boogie by completing a series of six special missions during spooky season in DDV. He’s a special, limited-time villager who only exists within a unique realm that’s only around for a bit during fall, and you must at least start his initial unlock mission to begin the process of recruiting him.

The steps you need to take to get Oogie Boogie and the general time restrictions make it feel fairly similar to valley events, so think of it in a similar way. The Strange Mirror that leads to his hidden lair is only around for a bit, similar to how islands like The Haunted Floating Festival and The Winter Floating Festival work.

All Oogie Boogie quests in Disney Dreamlight Valley

There are six quests you need to fully complete to unlock Oogie Boogie. These missions unlock on a weekly basis from Sept. 23 to Oct. 28. Here are all of the quests you need to tackle to recruit Oogie Boogie.

• September 23: Week 1 — A Halloween Invasion
• September 30: Week 2 — The Oogie Boogie Contract
• October 7: Week 3 — The Ghost in the Portrait
• October 14: Week 4 — Rescue Mission
• October 21: Week 5 — Let the Games Begin
• October 28: Week 6 — Oogie Boogie’s Big Game

If you want to unlock Oogie Boogie as soon as possible, you’ll need to keep on top of completing these tasks as they unlock weekly. If you’re not in a rush, though, you can also just start the first mission, then work through all the ones that come after it at your own pace once their initial unlock date has passed.

How long is Oogie Boogie available in Disney Dreamlight Valley?

For 2026, Oogie Boogie is available to unlock from Sept. 23 to Nov. 4. As long as you start his very first quest, which is A Halloween Invasion, during this timeframe, you can then work through all of his other missions at your own pace.

From 2027 onwards, Oogie Boogie will return to the valley every spooky season from Oct. 1 to 31. If you miss out on him the first time around, you’ll have another shot next year, but it’s quite a wait, so try your best to at least start his first mission this time around to ensure you recruit him as soon as possible.
