How to modify your install of Call of Duty on Steam

You can finally install other games on your PC.

If three things are certain in life, it’s death, taxes, and Call of Duty games taking up all your hard drive space. Unfortunately, installation and every update that follows are massive, enough to obliterate your precious memory. One popular way to reduce the size of the installation for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone is to modify the installation. It’s much more difficult to locate on Steam than Battle.net.

What does modifying your Call of Duty install mean?

To modify your Call of Duty install means to pick and choose which parts of the game you want installed on your device. For example, if you only play Warzone, you can delete multiplayer and campaign from your hard drive. If you only play multiplayer and campaign, you can delete Warzone. Although it certainly doesn’t solve the real problem—which is games being hundreds of GB to download—it does lighten the load quite a bit.

How to modify your Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone install on Steam

Modifying your Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone installations on Steam is easy. All you need is to know which parts of the game you want downloaded, and which can be deleted.

  1. Open Steam and locate Call of Duty in your library.
  2. Right-click on the game title, then click ‘Properties’.
  3. In this menu, you should see a few options listed on the left side, but you want to click on ‘DLC’.
  4. Here, you’ll see each part of the game that can be downloaded or deleted.
  5. Simply check or uncheck the proper items to remove them from your system’s hard drive.

It’s as easy as that. However, some of the actual downloadable content extras can be listed here as well so to avoid confusion, these are the proper titles of what you’ll want to delete or download:

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Campaign
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Multiplayer
  • Call of Duty: Warzone
  • Call of Duty: Warzone 2023

Congratulations, now you can install other games on your PC besides Call of Duty!
