While working your way through Star Path events in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll sometimes come across duties that ask you to go mining for specific gem colors. One such version of this quest appears in the Seafaring Star Path and asks you to mine for blue gems.
These tasks may seem simple enough at first, but for all of them, the gems that count are a lot more specific than you’d expect. And oftentimes, gems that should count simply don’t, which means it’s not as easy as just seeking out gems of the right color. If you’re struggling to get this task done, here’s how to mine for blue gems in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

All blue gems in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Around the valley, there are only four gems that are officially classified as blue, plus the special shiny versions of each one in DDV. Here are all the blue gems you can find and how to get each one.
| Gem | How to get |
|---|---|
| Aquamarine + Shiny Aquamarine | Can be mined from rock nodes around the Dazzle Beach and Forest of Valor biomes. Aladdin’s stall also sometimes has some for sale. |
| Blue Zircon + Shiny Blue Zircon | Can be mined from rock nodes around The Lagoon in Wild Tangle. You must have the A Rift in Time DLC installed to find this gem, as it’s only available on Eternity Isle. Aladdin’s gem stall also sometimes has it available to buy there. |
| Sapphire + Shiny Sapphire | Can be mined from rock nodes around the Vitalys Mines, which is found under the waterfall in the middle of the Sunlit Plateau biome. Aladdin’s stall also sometimes sells it. |
| Star Sapphire + Shiny Star Sapphire | Can be mined from rock nodes around Everafter. You must have The Storybook Vale DLC installed to find this one, as it’s only available in this region. Aladdin’s gem stall over in Storybook Vale also sometimes has it for sale. |
There are lots of other gems that are blue or at least look blue, like Pure Ice, Opal, and Diamonds. None of these work for Star Path duties that call for blue gems, though, so stick to searching for the other ones listed above to get these tricky missions done.

Mine for blue gems in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To complete the mine for blue gems duty for the Seafaring Star Path event, you need to mine a total of 20 blue gems. This is quite a big number of gems to find, so it’s a good idea to use Miracle Pickaxe Polish or Even More Miraculous Pickaxe Polish to increase the number of blue gems that drop.
You can also bring along a villager who specializes in mining, or a character who has the best friend glow active. It’s also smart to bring along two mining Companions. Any bonus items these allies find won’t count for the task, but since you’re mining either way, it’s helpful to find extra to craft with, gift, or otherwise use in the future.
The hard work you must put in for this quest only gets you 10 Tokens to spend in the event. This isn’t much at all, so if you want to earn all available rewards, you’ll need to jump on some additional missions before the event ends.
There are loads of other duties to check off in the Seafaring Star Path event to claim additional Tokens after finishing this one. Next, you might work on dressing up in a Coral Crown, giving a boy who never grows up his favorite gift, crafting a Helm Bookshelf for your nautical charts, and feeding Sea Turtles their favorite food.
