Since this mechanic wasn’t always part of the event, there’s a decent chance you may be unsure how to use it. You’re not given any guidance for it, so it can be tricky to figure out at first. If you’re having trouble making it happen, here’s how to go Trick-or-Treating in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

To go Trick-or-Treating for the Trick-or-Treat event in DDV, you need to visit the homes of participating characters, interact with the jack-o’-lantern in front of their house, and claim some Candy as a reward. Here’s a full breakdown of how to navigate this process.

  • Visit the home of a participating villager. Not all characters found around the valley are part of this task, so the first step is finding characters who are participating in the festivities.
  • Look for and interact with a lit jack-o’-lantern. You can only go Trick-or-Treating at the house if the jack-o’-lantern is lit up. If it is, walk up to it and press the button that appears next to the “Trick or Treat!” message.
  • Collect your Candy. As soon as you interact with the jack-o’-lantern, the villager who lives inside will pop out to give you some event Candy as a prize. Each time you visit a participating villager’s home, you get five Green Candies, five Red Candies, and five Purple Candies.

You can only visit a villager’s house once per day. After you have collected Candy from them, the jack-o’-lantern light will go out, signifying that they’re done for the day.
