The annual Trick-or-Treat event has returned in Disney Dreamlight Valley, and it’s brought with it a couple of fresh tasks to tackle. One of the tougher ones you’ll encounter is the Sweet ‘n’ Scary duty.
None of the event duties for this one give you any guidance or hints outside of their names, so figuring out what must be done to satisfy each one is a fairly tough task. If you’re unsure how to progress with this one, here’s how to complete the Sweet ‘n’ Scary duty in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

Sweet ‘n’ Scary in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To complete the Sweet ‘n’ Scary duty for the Trick-or-Treat event in DDV, you need to go Trick-or-Treating at villager houses a total of three times. Not all valley villagers are active participants in this event, so you must track down the ones who are to move forward with this task.
If any part of this duty has you stumped, here’s a full breakdown to help you progress.
- Visit the home of one of the participating villagers. There are six resident houses you can visit that are handing out Candy in 2026, which are:
- Mickey Mouse
- Wall-E
- Daisy
- Stitch
- Mike Wazowski (and Sulley)
- Jack Skellington (and Sally)
- Locate the lit jack-o’-lantern. In front of each of these six villager homes, there’s a lit jack-o’-lantern. It looks a bit different at each one, but all of them are orange pumpkins with carved faces and lighting.
- Approach and interact with the lit jack-o’-lantern. Once you spot the lit jack-o’-lantern, walk up to it and press the button that appears next to the “Trick or Treat!” message.
- Chat with the villager. Interacting with the lit jack-o’-lantern spawns the villager who owns the house outside by you. They’ll then chat with you briefly as they pass over some Candy for you.
- Repeat this process three times. Fully go through these steps a total of three times to finish the Scarily Sweet duty.
You can visit each of the six villagers who are participating in Trick-or-Treating once per day. Because of this, it’s possible to get the Sweet ‘n’ Scary duty done in just one day as long as you visit three different characters’ homes, since as soon as you Trick-or-Treat at one, the lit jack-o’-lantern is extinguished, signifying that they’re done for the day.

Sweet ‘n’ Scary reward in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Fully completing the Sweet ‘n’ Scary duty gets you the Halloween Town Gravestone crafting recipe as a reward. This is one of the many Halloween Town Trick-or-Treat event rewards you can earn for progressing through this special festival. To get the rest of them, you must fully work your way through the Scarily Sweet duty, which has multiple different stages and quite a collection of rewards to go with them.
