Rain down havoc from above.

There are lots of different Star Wars weapons you can find around the island for Fortnite’s Galactic Battle season. By far the most powerful and deadly one is the massive laser you can command by finding and entering the Star Destroyer ship.

If you want access to the best equipment possible, you need to try piloting the Star Destroyer yourself or with some allies at your side. To do so, you need to know how to find and enter the Star Destroyer in Fortnite.

The exact location of the Star Destroyer changes in each match. It functions similarly to Training Rift Gates or the floating Loot Island, which means it can appear just about anywhere. There’s no way to know where it will arrive, so you just have to be ready to head for it as swiftly as possible when it does.

To find the Star Destroyer, you need to live long enough to see the Star Destroyer Portal spawn and be the first one to travel through the portal. As soon as this massive vehicle is available, you’ll see a large pop-up appear in the bottom middle area of the screen letting you know the portal is open.

The precise location of the portal is then marked so you can easily make your way to it. Unlike Training Rift Gates, which spawn multiple portals for each hologram NPC, the Star Destroyer portal has only one gate you can enter through.

When does the Star Destroyer spawn in Fortnite Star Wars Galactic Battle?

The Star Destroyer’s precise spawn time seems to be fairly unpredictable, but it always appears on the island sometime after the second storm circle passes. This means there are generally around 50 players left when it arrives, and you have to survive for a decent amount of time to witness or command it.

Once the portal spawns and you head inside it, you and any allies you may have are immediately teleported up into the Star Destroyer. You’ll then witness a short cutscene as the massive ship arrives to wreak havoc on the island.

When the cutscene ends, the fun begins as your view then changes to take control of the Star Destroyer’s Turbolaser. You have an overhead view of the island while this mode is active, and you can freely fire lasers down on all your enemies below.

The Star Destroyer follows a short linear path, so the area you can shoot while you’re up in this ship is a bit limited. It also doesn’t stay around forever, as your reign aboard it only lasts for about one minute and 15 seconds. There’s a timer displayed in the top middle of the screen when you’re commanding this ship to tell you how long you have left before you’re taken back down to the island.

There’s plenty more to do around the island when you’re done using this massive ship. Next, you might work on unlocking Mandalorian NPCs, saving Chewbacca, and completing Leia Organa’s story quests.
