To succeed at combat in Aniimo, you need to incorporate a variety of different moves into your skillset. One of the most important ones is dodge, which is surprisingly complex and tricky to figure out.
In many battles, successfully evading your opponent’s strikes is a must, as you may struggle to stay alive and secure a victory if you don’t. Figuring out how to actually do so is rather tough in this game, though, so if you’re having trouble making it happen, here’s how to dodge in Aniimo.

How do you dodge in Aniimo?
The way you dodge varies depending on the Aniimo you’re attempting to use this move with. Generally, though, you can find the dodge option listed among the available Aniimo abilities in the bottom right corner when you’re Twined with one of these creatures.
On a Flameruff, for example, the dodge ability is their second move. Other Aniimo, like Hummin, have other movement mechanics instead, such as dash. And some Aniimo don’t have any movement moves at all. Every Aniimo is different, so it can be tough to figure out how to use this mechanic with each creature, as it looks different for each of them.
Why can’t you dodge in Aniimo?
Not all Aniimo have the option to dodge included as part of their skillset, which means you’ll find yourself playing as many different creatures that simply don’t have this ability. This can be a bit confusing, as you may enter a combat situation where you’re told to dodge, but if you’re not one of the few Aniimo who can perform this move, you just won’t be able to do it until you swap.
How to evade enemies in combat in Aniimo
Since the dodge ability isn’t always available to use, you’ll need to find other ways to evade opponents in combat. Luckily, there are a few other ways you can somewhat “dodge” an enemy without using this specific mechanic.
- While Twined with most Aniimo, you’ll have the option to hustle. If it’s available to use, you’ll spot the icon and text for it near the bottom-right corner of the screen, slightly above the Aniimo’s ultimate move. When you use hustle, you’ll dash forward extremely quickly and continue moving forward for a bit of time. It’s a fairly effective way to “dodge” foes when you don’t have an actual dodge move at your disposal.
- While playing as a regular human or an Aniimo that doesn’t have the hustle move, you can also simply dash to evade attacks. It’s not always the most effective, as you only sprint forward a few feet, but whenever you’re in a tough situation and have no other way to move out of the way swiftly, it may still help save you, so it’s worth trying if you’ve got no other choices.
- The button you need to press to trigger a dash varies by platform, and isn’t unlocked until around the time you officially enroll in the institute, so you have to progress a bit to gain this ability. If you’re unsure what control triggers it for you, open up Settings by clicking the gear icon on the menu, select the Controls page, and find the button listed next to the dash option in the first column.
- If all else fails, you can try to jump out of the way. This is often not really that effective, but sometimes it’s all you’ve got, so give it a shot if nothing else is working out.
