How to complete The Mayoral Election quest in Tears of the Kingdom

The ultimate showdown of fashion versus function

Hateno Village has become a surprisingly bustling town in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It’s both an agricultural center for Hyrule and a fashion destination. These two worlds collide in The Mayoral Election quest in Tears of the Kingdom, with Link right in the middle.

This quest kicks off when you head to Hateno Village and visit Cece’s boutique. You’ll get a ticket to visit the fashionista’s shop, only to be caught in the middle of a stand-off between her and Mayor Reede. Cece will insist on a showdown in the Mayoral Election, with whoever’s vision of Hateno leading from there on out.

How to start The Mayoral Election in Tears of the Kingdom

While that dispute starts the quest, you’ll need to take on a few side quests in order to see it through to the end. These include tasks for various folks around the town, as well as assisting both campaigns in their outreach, and uncovering secrets about the candidates themselves.

Here’s the full rundown of the side adventures and quests you’ll need to beat for The Mayoral Election, with our guides and tips linked for each:

Once all of these are cleared, your Adventure Log will update, and you can head over to Cece’s boutique to talk to Sophie and start the election. Note: It seems you need to do it during the day, and with clear weather.

The two will meet in the plaza for a brief debate of sorts before the election. Truths come to light, bridges rebuilt, and understandings achieved. I won’t say too much, but it’s a nice scene. After all the fervor, Reede maintains head status, while Cece plans to collaborate and help grow the village in a new vision of farming-fashion unity.

Afterwards, Cece and Sophie will thank Link, and ask him to stop by the shop. You definitely should.

Cece will first congratulate you on your escapades, and for bringing her and Reede together for the better of the village. For that, you’ll get a reward: the ultra-stylish hat you first glimpsed in her boutique at the start of the quest line. Fashionable!

Additionally, Cece and Sophie will re-open Ventest Clothing Boutique as a new clothing store with some clothing options for Link. Alongside some duds worth grabbing, Cece offers a few more special services.

First off, she can alter the Hylian Hood to be down rather than up, if you prefer that style.

She can also recover any lost or sold items of clothing you’ve discovered. So if you ever parted with a piece of clothing unexpectedly, you can pay some rupees here to get it back. It’s a handy new shop for Link to visit, and a fresh start for Hateno Village.
