Housemarque announces ruby shooter Matterfall

Kill those rockspiders

Housemarque is probably best known for its trippy 2D shooters Super Stardust or Resogun, but the studio is going in a different direction for its latest game Matterfall, announced today at Sony’s press conference during Paris Games Week. The trailer showed a guy in a Crysis-lookin’ suit, able to construct weapons on the fly.

He fights against some antagonistic red crystals that appear to be taking over the environment and its inhabitants. Then they turned into rock-hard tentacles and attacked him! I’ve seen enough anime to know where that was going. Good thing the trailer cut at that point.
