Halo 5’s midnight launch event will be held digitally

No lining up needed

I recently asked a few GameStop employees and managers if midnight releases were still popular, and the common answer was “no.” It’s obvious that the chain (and many other retailers) has been ramping up its digital angle as of late, but even now, not as many people are showing up to brick and mortar stores to grab their games.

Microsoft is taking advantage of this, as it’s running a midnight launch event online for Halo 5, the day before its October 27 launch. It’ll be running a livestream for six hours before launch, which will feature media from the Halo universe, a roundtable with staff and Nathan Fillion, and other tidbits.

Expect our review early next week.
