Gears of War 2 creator Cliff Bleszinski is nearly finished with the Xbox 360 sequel, confidently claiming that the game is almost 90% done and is just in need of the final polish. The charismatic developer also addressed the notoriously bleak color scheme of the original Gears of War, promising that there will be more than a mixture of grays to feast our eyes on this time around.
“I boot the game up every morning and go through campaign mode, making sure it’s all stitched together and batsh*t insane,” revealed Clifford, before talking about the colors. “We kind of actively aimed for the de-saturated look, but its since become de riguer for this generation of games. I think that’s why something like Mirror’s Edge has become kind of like an oasis in the desert of E3 – ‘Look! There’s a red crate! I love you!’
“We actually have a little more colour in Gears 2 – reds, oranges. Hopefully you’ve noticed. What I can tell you is that if there was a Gear 3 it’ll be a total disco town: purples, pinks and greens everywhere!”
Yay for color! Of course, nothing in Gears of War 2 has suggested that the game will be much more colorful than the original, but I imagine that I’ll be too busy making heads explode to stop and admire the scenery. Gears 2 is heading our way on November 7 and I’ll definitely be there to get my clammy hands on it.
