Beginning Maneuvers

Focus Home Entertainment, which has really made moves to expand its operations in the past two years, has further bolstered its ranks with the addition of French indie developer Lekir Studio, which is now officially a part of the Focus Home Entertainment portfolio.

Lekir Studios, previously responsible for 2021 fantasy title Roguelords, is currently busy beavering away at the cool-looking strategy title Metal Slug Tactics. Originally revealed during the Summer Game Fest 2021, the new title swaps out the series run ‘n’ gun roots for an inventive and fun-looking real-time strategy take. Lekir and collaborator Dotemu have been pretty quiet on this release since that initial reveal, but Metal Slug Tactics is expected to launch sometime in 2022 on PC and consoles.

“We are happy to join the Focus Group because it is an important step for the growth of our studio,”  said Aurélien Loos, President and founder of Leikir Studio. “This acquisition validates our multi-production strategy and will allow us to reach new qualitative and creative heights. This is a great recognition for the work accomplished by our teams over the past several years.”

Lekir Studio is Focus Home Entertainment’s fifth studio acquisition in recent memory. Previously, the publisher had also taken in German outfit Deck13, Warhammer lovers StreumOn, French developer Douze Dixièmes, and, in its biggest acquisition to date, Dotemu, which has had a hand in the development of smash hits such as Streets of Rage 4, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, Windjammers 2, and the upcoming TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge.
