Final Fantasy XIV ramps up to six million players

That’s a global count

Square Enix has announced that in the roughly three years it’s been around, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has garnered six million players globally (that number excludes free trials). To celebrate, players with subscriptions that are no longer active can log in for free starting July 25 until August 30, allowing five full days of play.

The XIV team just dropped a massive update in 3.35, which includes the Deep Dungeon (a nod to the area in Tactics) mechanic — which basically amounts to random dungeons with massive rewards in tow.

It’s a great game, and I hope it somehow gets to come to Xbox One in the future and only grow from there.
