The episode features some incredible (and surreal) animation, a bopper of a villain song, and some fascinating reveals about the series’ overarching lore. It also has a lot of video game references. Sr. Pelo snuck in subtle video game nods in previous Spooky Month episodes, but “The Wacky Wicked Woods” dials it up to eleven. Dozens of references to games, consoles, and memes from every era of the hobby are peppered throughout the episode, and many of them go by so fast you’ll probably miss them on your first watch.
