The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced back in 2018, well over eight years ago. Since then, radio silence. Neither Bethesda nor Microsoft had a thing to say about the game all that time, though when new chief Asha Sharma took control, things started to unravel. At a snail’s pace, of course.

Ever since then, fans have begun speculating about what this new TES will be about. Not that they haven’t speculated over the course of almost a decade at this point. The difference is that Sharma revealed TES6 will have an eight-letter title, which many believed to be “Sentinel.” Now, according to The Verge, Sentinel is, indeed, the official name for The Elder Scrolls 6.

As that outlet writes, TES6: Sentinel stands to be revealed sometime next month, possibly to mark the 15th anniversary of TES5: Skyrim‘s release, which came out on Nov. 11. Furthermore, it seems TES6 is quickly progressing in development, with The Verge reporting that Bethesda has been showing more and more of its gameplay these past few months.

As you can see from the paragraph above, it’s been a decade and a half since we last got an Elder Scrolls game. It’s not like Bethesda’s been dormant all those years: Fallout 4 came out in 2015, we then got Fallout 76 in 2018, and Starfield in 2023. Not the best games in its catalog, but big, AAA-level titles nevertheless. TES6 was officially revealed in 2018 with a brief cinematic teaser, by the looks of which we can guess it will be set in Hammerfell.

When it’s meant to actually come out is still unclear, but with Sharma’s XBOX pushing for greater focus on core IPs, we can perhaps expect it within the next couple of years.
