EIEIO 2008: Blazing Lizard’s Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball screens and DLC info

Recommended Videos

Pirates hate ninjas. Ninjas hate pirates. It’s that simple. Why? Because the Internet said so.

That right there is reason enough for Flaming Lizard’s Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network title Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball to exist. But, it doesn’t matter why these groups hate each other, does it? We never asked why the skinny team hated the medium team in Nintendo’s Ice Hockey, did we? They just didn’t like each other, OK? Jesus …

Settling a feud with a game of dodgeball is as old as mankind itself. Anthropologists have reported findings that indicate that three versus three stone tossing battles were used to settle pterodactyl ownership disputes. Hell, just the other day I pegged my wife in the head with a rubber ball after she refused to heat up a plate of leftovers for me. She retaliated, and now I can’t feel my ears.

Dodgeball. It’s the great equalizer. This isn’t the first time Destructoid has had a chance to go hands-on with Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball, and it doesn’t appear there’s much new to report. The game looks great for a digital download title, and is relatively fun to play in group, and can best be described as “what you see is what you get.” The game is essentially in the can, so Flaming Lizard is simply waiting for the “OK” from the big dogs at Microsoft and Sony before the game sees release.

I was able to confirm that one new level will be available for download a few weeks after launch, followed by an entirely new level and a new team. While it doesn’t look like details on the DLC will be revealed prior to release, enjoy these new screens and start deciding now – whose side are you on? Pirates, ninjas, zombies, or robots?
