E3 09: New sports revealed in Wii Sports Resort

Recommended Videos

I don’t care what people say, I love (and still play!) the original Wii Sports. It is super addictive and, to this day, truly uses the Wii remote in the best way possible.

At last year’s E3, Nintendo showed off three sports that would be featured in the new Wii Sports Resort (due out in July of this year). Using the brand new Wii Motion Plus attachment, I was able to play some pretty gosh darn rsponsive demos of frisbee, fencing, and waveracing. All three were awesome.

This morning, at the Nintendo press conference, six new sports were revealed: the awesome-looking (and sounding) sky diving, basketball, ping-pong, kayaking, BMX bike riding, and, my personal favorite so far, archery. All six looked really fun and, again, took full advantage of the Wii Motion Plus peripheral.

Take a look at the first official screens of the new sports in the gallery. I can’t wait to try this game on the show floor! I am so excited!
