From Software’s upcoming PvEvP Soulslike The Duskbloods has been delayed after its rapidly approaching release window closed in like an encroaching battle royale circle.

Originally due to launch some time in 2026, the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive has now been dropped into some time in 2027 to allow for more work although the game is already “at the final adjustment stage.”

“During the network test, we saw active interest in the core concepts of the game, including combat, strategic depth, and player expression,” From Software said in the delay announcement. “To further enhance these aspects, we have decided to move the launch, allowing time for final adjustments to game rules and balancing.”

The delay is not surprising, given that there’s now just two months left in 2026, but also because the impressions of the game’s closed network test were somewhat mixed. In my own impressions of the game from August, I felt the From Software aura from the opening moments of the game, but some of the sometimes-overwhelming match structure and nature of PvP combat left some things to be desired.

For example, players quickly found out that one of the character classes having a sniper rifle to deal with enemies at range made them a no-brainer pick vs. the rest of the field when it comes to sweating in PvP. I’m sure there will be some balancing done to hopefully make the game feel a bit more evened out.

“We apologize to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title and thank you for your patience and support,” the studio said in closing.

The Duskbloods is a unique title, combining aspects of battle royale, extraction games, and traditional multiplayer scoring wrapped in a Soulslike bow to create something that shows a lot of promise, so I’m keen on trying out the full release when the studio says it’s good and ready.
