Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition available now on PS3/Vita, free with PS Plus

Step aside Killzone, Devolver’s got my portable FPS needs covered

It’s not often that I lament letting my PlayStation Plus subscription lapse, but today is one of those days. While I’m begrudgingly plunking down $9.99 of my hard-earned cash to have Devolver’s Megaton Edition of the classic first-person shooter Duke Nukem 3D on my PS Vita, all of you clever, forward-thinking individuals are smugly chuckling at suckers like me, because you’re getting the damned thing for free. For nothing. Zilch-o. Free-of-charge.

To add insult to injury, the generous buggers at Devolver are foisting on you the PlayStation 3 port to boot, à la Cross-Buy. Who says console gamers don’t have it made?

According to Devolver rep Stephanie “All out of Bubblegum” Tinsley Schopp, the PS3 and Vita releases of Duke Nukem include “enhanced versions of Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition and three unique expansion packs as well as the original version of the classic game,” plus “polished visuals, online multiplayer, and PlayStation trophies. BLAM!”

Blam, indeed. Well, there you have it. The eagerly anticipated console/portable version of the PC classic is here at last. Hail to the king, baby!
