It is once again time to rip and tear, Call of Duty gamers: DOOM returns in Black Ops 7’s The Haunting event for the game’s final season before Modern Warfare 4 in October.
Of all of CoD’s seasonal events, The Haunting is by far the most beloved and favorite among players. Previous years have added zombies, monsters, creepy collaborations, and playable events. This year is no different.
DOOM seems to be the only collab for this year, marking the return of the franchise for the first time since Modern Warfare II a few years back, and a marriage of two Microsoft-owned properties. This year’s version includes an Event Pass that contains two different Doom Guy skins, DOOM-themed weapon blueprints and finishing moves, plus more.
Marking this year’s Haunting is a new variation of the Haven’s Hollow Resurgence map in Warzone, Haunted Hallow. The map gets a visual makeover along with additions like a Ghost Train and new modes like Giant Infected for 64 players, where it’s zombies vs. humans until no one is left standing.
In general content news, season six rounds out BO7’s year of updates with new weapons (VMP submachine gun, TR51 Para assault rifle, and more), several new multiplayer maps, limited-time modes, Zombies and Endgame content, and more, along with the new battle pass.
This rounds out another year of quite a bit of content for CoD, a pace at which not many games can keep up with. Monthly updates, a new season every two months, and several events throughout the year keep players coming back for more as multiple studios across Activision work hard to keep the live-service calendar filled with things to do and grind for.
Season six of BO7 launches on Sept. 17, giving players a little over a month to enjoy before MW4 drops on Oct. 23.
