Don’t worry, Dragon Quest XI isn’t a mobile MMO

Back to basics

Whenever it arrives, it sounds like Dragon Quest XI will be a return to form for the franchise.

Speaking with Final Fantasy Ring at this weekend’s Japan Expo in Paris, Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii hinted at what sort of experience fans can expect from the next mainline entry in the series.

Horrii said the title will be designed for home consoles, as opposed to smartphones, and will feature classic turn-based battles, rather than action oriented combat seen in Dragon Quest Heroes.

Moreover, Horii says Dragon Quest XI will be an offline game, unlike Dragon Quest X.

So, in case you woke up in a sweat thinking the next game would be some sort of nightmarish hack-and-slash MMO for mobile devices, don’t worry your pretty little head. It’s going to be okay.
