As of the time of writing, there is no officially announced release date for The Keepsake Sea expansion in DDV. A showcase stream for it is scheduled to debut sometime in October, so it’ll likely be released in either October or November based on this information, the release dates of past DLCs, and the roadmap for upcoming content.

The Keepsake Sea characters in Disney Dreamlight Valley

So far, only one character is confirmed to be part of The Keepsake Sea DLC, which is Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. All main expansion DLCs that have been released before this one have included around four to five characters, though, so we can expect that this one will too.

Although it’s completely unknown who else will be included in this DLC, any character who is related to water is a good bet. Some possible additions we could see here are as follows.

  • Nemo, Dory, or other such characters from Finding Nemo and Finding Dory
  • Milo, Kida, or other such characters from Atlantis: The Lost Empire
  • King Triton, Sebastian, Flounder, or other such characters from The Little Mermaid
  • Luca and Alberto from Luca

Additionally, all main DLCs have included at least one big villain to drive the central conflict and main storyline featured in it. This means we are expecting one here, too. Some villains who match the theme and could be included in this pack are as follows.

  • Captain Hook from Peter Pan
  • Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean

With the release of The Keepsake Sea, we can expect to see fresh content for just about every area of the game. Here’s a breakdown of what we know to expect so far.

  • New gameplay mechanics – All DLCs come with some new gameplay features, typically including a massive, central one that completely reshapes the game forever, like horses in Wishblossom Ranch. The first teaser for The Keepsake Sea showed the player swimming underwater as a mermaid, so the main gameplay addition seems to be the ability to transform into a mermaid and swim underwater.
  • New characters – This expansion will include some new friends and foes you can meet. Based on past DLCs, we can expect around four or five new villagers to be included in this one.
  • New biomes – A new explorable land will be part of this pack. It’ll likely include at least three new regions to explore, with each one having an array of biomes and featuring a unique theme.
  • New critters – All expansions come with a few new types of Critter Companions to befriend. The ones featured in this DLC will likely be underwater creatures, so animals like seahorses, otters, sea lions, and sharks are possible additions here.
  • New items – We can expect to see all kinds of new items included in The Keepsake Sea. This includes cooking ingredients, gems, clothing, furniture, fish, seafood, crops, and much more.
