Wanderburg‘s full release version (in early access) has over 10 different Captains to pick from, and each of them has a unique ability. Typically, each captain has a unique strength and weakness.

In this guide, I will help you figure out how every Captain works so that you can be judicious with your hard-earned Silver.

Complete Wanderburg Captains tier list

To separate the Captains, I have used three different tiers.

  • S-tier Captains are the safest way to spend your Silver and they have overpowered abilities.
  • A-tier Captains are decent alternatives, and they can elevate to the higher tier when you get the right build.
  • B-tier Captains might be fun if you want some chaos, but they’re not really meta by any means.

S-tier

  • Patchy: 100% extra damage on your cannons is useful, but you’ll have to master the art of dodges (because the enemy shots will do the same).
  • Racer Ruth: 10% nerf to your normal speed for 50% boosted speed is massive, and more so when you’re trying to escape.
  • Empress: With 100% spawns of friendly units, the Empress can be key to the late game automated builds. Losing 20% speed is a problem, but you can mitigate that in alternate ways.

A-tier

  • The Count: While consuming units and getting heals is better, you can run out of luck occasionally. Hence, I have placed him on the A-tier.
  • Tankbert: If you enjoy playing defensive, Tankbert is S-tier. You give up 50% of Nitro regeneration, but your ma HP gets bigger when you destroy a vehicle.
  • Huntress: Boosted Auto Attack Speed is useful, but so are Abilities. Hence, the Huntress is perfect at A-tier as you gain one while losing the other.
  • Pyromaniac: The Pyromaniac has an immensely powerful ability as it ignites any enemy he touches. However, negating your luck completely can turn out to be an issue.

B-tier

  • Lumberjack: Giving up your Nitro regen speed to consume trees (and gain Nitro) seems like a bad trade. This could change as I unlock more areas and test the different vehicles.
  • Dieter: You can get lucky at times, but the wobbly controls are not fun. If you like RNG, you can go for him.
  • Kapitalistus Maximus: You get 20% less Gold during a run but 40% more after. So far, the Gold I get during a run is noticeably more, and hence, Maximus goes to B-tier.
  • Sire Jonah: If you like Techno Music, Jonah might work. I prefer Captain with actual in-game effect.

As of writing, I have yet to assess the Duelist, so expect to find an update in the days to come.
