Destiny 2 Starcat locations – Week 1

Did Starhorse have some cute little friends we didn't know about?

The new season of Destiny 2Season of the Wish, introduces Starcats, a unique collectible. However, these cosmic kitties are well hidden throughout Season 23 content. But bragging rights aren’t the only thing locating all the Starcats earn. To unlock the Wishbearer title this season, players are tasked with finding all 14 Starcats. This will progress and complete the Familiar Felines Triumph, granting the Wyrmguard Ghost shell when concluded.

Over the course of its nearly decade-long service, Destiny has frequently treated players to puzzles and secrets. Last season, Guardians solved the Imbaru Engine’s mysteries; before that, players hunted for a secret Raid chest that never existed. That said, players currently can’t collect all the Starcats at once. The collectibles are being released over time, with only the first two available alongside the start of Season 23. One is out in the open and rather easy to find accidentally; the other will require a bit of luck or cunning.

The first Starcat can be found in the Dreaming City’s Blind Well. Players can launch this activity directly via a node when accessing the Dreaming City map through the Director. While you can enter Blind Well solo or with friends, the group-based bout will employ matchmaking to partner Guardians up. This means there’s a good chance players will start their search alongside the active chaos of the zone-based activity.

The Starcat rests opposite where players first enter the Blind Well, up the stairs in front of a large door at the back of the room. This is just behind where the final boss appears if Guardians trigger the heroic variation of the encounter.

This Starcat is hidden in Riven’s Lair, only accessible through a specific path in the seasonal activity via the H.E.L.M. Each run of Riven’s Lair randomly chooses a set of encounters for Guardians to test themselves against. At the start of the activity, if the leftmost portal becomes active, players will be on their way toward the Garden of Plenty’s Starcat.

If Guardians don’t want to rely on luck, there is a way to guarantee exploration of the Garden of Plenty. It’s one of the featured encounters during the Polysemy seasonal quest. Players can hop on a character that hasn’t already completed the quest for easy access.

The Starcat is located on a hidden ledge just off the edge of the zone. Guardians will want to look for a moss-covered rock just before the platform the Taken Ogre was imprisoned on. The cliff is just over the edge to the left.

Where do the Starcats go?

In seasons past, the H.E.L.M. offered some kind of a shelf or display to show off a player’s earned collectibles. In Season 23, Bungie is letting the cats run wild. Appropriately and accurate to real life, Guardians can find the Starcats around the H.E.L.M. doing … well, cat things.

One (fuzzy?) friend can be found pawing at the closed door to the left of the War Table. The other is enjoying a rest upon Mara’s its throne in the Wing of the Wish.
