Two titans of survival horror are set to collide this week, as Capcom’s Resident Evil makes its second appearance in the asymmetrical multiplayer title, Dead by Daylight. The “Project W” event launches tomorrow, August 30, on all platforms.

Project W will see the arrival of legendary Resi bad dude Albert Wesker as a new killer, while the roster of survivors will be bolstered by sultry secret agent Ada Wong and the junior medic of S.T.A.R.S.’ ill-fated Bravo Team, Rebecca Chambers. The characters have been recently available in the Dead by Daylight Test Build, with the dev squad tweaking Wesker’s strange, biohazardous attacks. You can check out the characters and their respective dilemma in the cinematic trailer below.

Resident Evil was last featured in Dead by Daylight back in June of 2021, when heroes Leon S. Kennedy and Jill Valentine took on the seemingly unstoppable Nemesis. DbD has really grown from its humble roots to become a who’s who of horror icons, from silver screen stars such as Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, and Leatherface, to TV and video game characters from franchises such as Stranger Things and Silent Hill, and even branching out into the world of dating games.

While the asymmetrical horror genre is most assuredly something of an acquired taste, kudos to Behaviour Interactive for building its all-star horror scrapper into the genre’s pioneering title.

Dead by Daylight is available now on PlayStation, PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile platforms.
