Crackdown rocks! We’ll tell you why later (Nex is eaten by a swarm of NDAs)

This last weekend, Nagiko, Dyson Grigsby and myself were all invited to attend an event in San Francisco where we were able to play a full version of their upcoming Xbox 360 release Crackdown. You guys have already played the demo, but like hungry puppies, you desperately crave more electronic milk, and Destructoid is offering you its robotic teat from which to suckle.

While we can’t offer you a full review as of yet (thanks to the NDAs swarming around us like evil hornets), we’ve got these pictures of the event, as well as our own personal impressions. You’ll see Nagiko’s and Dyson’s impressions soon, but like the early bird that was the first to seduce that sexy, sexy worm, you’re getting a hot cup of Nex splashed in your face right here, right now.

The one thing I can’t stress enough is how little the screenshots can actually prepare you for the game. They look pretty, but you will be blown away by how much nicer the game looks in motion. This is due to the comic book art style, and it serves the story really well. During gameplay you can almost hear Rob Liefeld getting an erection, and as disgusting as that is, it makes me giggle a little inside.

I also wanted to mention how excited the developers were about what people had started doing with their game. Many of them mentioned how cool it was to see videos popping up on YouTube of stunts in Crackdown in action and these charming Scottish lads were absolutely glowing while describing the insane physics-based carnage festivals they had seen.

Since leaving the event two days ago, I’ve been playing the copy of the game they gave me almost non-stop. It’s a fantastic piece of work, and I can’t wait to give you a full review of what I’ve seen.

Like I said, Nagiko and Dyson will toss up their impressions soon, so keep an eye out for those, and until then, please enjoy the pictures we took.

I'm Nex. I used to work here but my love of cash led me to take a gig with Wired. I still keep an eye on the 'toid, but to see what I'm really up to, you should either hit up my Vox or go have a look at the Wired media empire.
