Commodore USA producing modern PCs in replica cases

Here’s a blast from the past. Commodore USA has announced that they’re going back to their roots, producing a line of “all in one” computer systems including one based on the classic Commodore 64 beige box design from the 1980’s (pictured above).

The systems may look old on the outside but have enough packed inside to make for a rather serviceable computer. The Commodore PC64 will include an Intel Atom 535 processor with an NVIDIA Ion2 graphics card, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a terabyte hard disk and a DVD-ROM (with optional Blu-Ray). The system is expected to release in time for the holidays.

I have a computer in my living room that’s simply too powerful for its purpose as a media player. But if I were to get one of these for Christmas, why, that would make a wonderful conversation piece as well as a functional entertainment product. *hint* *hint*
