Call of Duty: Modern Warfare teasing the return of super soldier Ghost

Who you gonna call?

A new tweet from the official Call of Duty Twitter appears to be teasing the return of one of the blockbuster franchise’s best-remembered characters: Ghost. The short teaser video takes the form of a personnel database, and has (presumably) Captain Price calling the fan-favourite back to the fight.

“Ghost” is the call-name of British operative Simon Riley, who made his debut in 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. Despite not even making it to the final reel of that entry’s campaign, Ghost become a popular figure among the CoD playerbase, thanks to his “badass” attitude, and sinister look – basically, he has a skull bandana/mask, and people really dig that shit.

Despite the problematic issue of being dead, Ghost would appear in further CoD games such as Call of Duty: Ghosts and Call of Duty Online, while also making frequent cameos throughout lore and marketing. Ghost’s return is teased in the finale of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019), and no doubt this new tweet is the precursor to the skelebob sniper taking to the battlefield once again.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available now on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
