Bravely Default producer Tomoya Asano talks sequel plans

More story focused rather than exploration

Bravely Default has been out in the west for some time, and despite some topical narrative choices, it’s safe to say it’s been a hit. Siliconera got the chance to talk to producer Tomoya Asano, and mostly talked about what to expect from the sequel.

Asano was quick to mention first and foremost that it wouldn’t be an action fueled sequel, and would be more story oriented. He notes that player reactions “have been very positive,” so the turn-based battle system will return.  He also goes on to say that it won’t be an exploration based experience, just like Bravely Default — which is why enemy encounters aren’t visible on the map, and why you can toggle the encounter rate. The toggle feature is confirmed for the sequel.
