Battlefield: Bad Company ‘isn’t forgotten,’ says DICE

The team is ‘just on a very long vacation’

As a studio, DICE “love[s] the Bad Company series,” but a new installment isn’t a point of focus right now. Creative director Lars Gustavsson told Polygon that “My feeling is that I would love to do it. For me, when we started the company with 1942, it was really a work of passion. And then we worked our way through the era of different wars, and I loved them all, like my little babies. When it came to Bad Company, it was creative freedom; don’t take yourself too seriously.”

Gustavsson notes DICE currently has its hands full with two other big-name projects: Mirror’s Edge 2 and Star Wars: Battlefront. That work could put the project off a couple years at the earliest — if it does happen, that is — “but we’ll see,” he said.

“But trust me, the Bad Company [team] isn’t forgotten, they are just on a very long vacation. So they are out there, they’re coming back.” I always appreciated the humor and tone over the straight-faced campaign of, say, Battlefield 3. More of that, please!
