Battlefield 4’s campaign to feel more like multiplayer

Look for ‘signature multiplayer elements’

Going into E3, all I truly wanted to hear more about was Battlefield 4‘s multiplayer. Who didn’t? The single-player campaign had, up until that point, been DICE’s promotional focus. Perhaps the studio knew it’d have our attention early on. From the sound of it, one of the goals is to have more overlap between the two components.

“There are signature multiplayer elements that we want to bring into single-player,” general manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson told Official PlayStation Magazine. “We want to give the player a choice. Do they want to go for the sneaky approach with a sniper rifle and a silenced pistol, or do they want to take a jeep and have the entire squad shoot at everything they see?”

What’s more, players will have the ability to order around AI squadmates, which all sounds okay on paper. At the same time, I wish DICE would follow Respawn Entertainment’s example with Titanfall: concentrate on what the majority of players are here for — the multiplayer — and absolutely nail it.
