Battlefield 3 ‘early access’ beta not so early for some

Recommended Videos

Electronic Arts promised 48 hours of early Battlefield 3 beta access to customers that pre-ordered the game through Origin or registered their copy of the Medal of Honor Tier 1 Edition via an EA account. While many gamers got their beta keys, a significant number didn’t, and they’re not happy.

The beta is now open to all, so those who met EA’s “early access” demands and received nothing have lost the opportunity completely. One forum thread is taking names and details of those who got jilted. Another thread details a chat log with customer support in which a rep tries to inform one angry gamer that his region was locked out of the game. These are but two of quite a few.

All told, it looks like it’s been a bit of a fiasco, but it’s not received much attention outside of the gamers who were affected. One can hope that EA might make it up to anybody who qualified for an early code, but this is EA, and it’s looking like they’ll get away with it, so that hope’s naive at best.

[Thanks to those that sent in their angry emails about this!]
