Goshdarnnit, Atari!
After Jace Hall got the cult-classic first-person shooter Blood on the road to a remake, Atari has stepped in and temporarily shut the project down. Hall notified the Blood fan community of The Postmortem about the standstill with Atari, but didn’t elaborate on the reasons why Atari want the project on hold.
“Obviously, I am disappointed. Particularly given Atari’s continued encouragement along with the amount of time, effort and correspondence that I have put into this venture,” Hall wrote. “The only thing that can be done at this point is to wait and see what happens with Atari, and hope that they find themselves in a position and mindset to allow my efforts to continue on this matter at a future date.”
In August, Hall announced that he would pursue a free, re-release of Monolith’s Blood for consoles and PC. Hall executive produced and provided voice work for the 1997 title. This clearly was a passion project for him, and one many Blood fans, me included, were excited for. Here’s hoping things continue to progress, in time.
