ARC Raiders will finally become free-to-play as the developers ramp up hype for its new major update, Frozen Trail. The game will allow players to hop in without spending a dime for four whole days between Oct. 8 and Oct. 12.

From Oct. 8 at 4am CDT to Oct. 12 at 3am CDT, players will get the chance to experience ARC Raiders completely free of charge. This full weekend grants access to the entire game, with nothing left blocked, locked, or paywalled. As the developers explain, this free weekend lands exactly during the launch of Frozen Trail, which they describe as the “biggest update since launch.”

Even if you don’t have the new map, Pendola Pass, unlocked yet, you’ll still be able to access it if you queue up with someone who does, no matter if you’re a free-to-play or paying customer. While the devs haven’t disclosed it yet, I reckon you’ll also get to keep your progress in the game if you do decide to buy it after the free-to-play run comes to a close.

Frozen Trail is being promoted as the biggest and probably the best update for ARC Raiders to date. The developers had spent several months working on it, with the game experiencing a drought of content that’s finally being quenched. It appears that the massive success of the game caused the team at Embark to burn out, which only makes sense since this is by far one of the most popular extraction shooters ever made, and one of Steam’s top games for many consecutive months.
