The Resonance update features a new piece of equipment to use, massive updates to an existing item, huge changes to the game’s core engine system, quality-of-life improvements, and much more. Here’s a full breakdown of everything that’s been revealed for it.

  • Dowsing Rods – A new type of equipment will be added to the pool of items you can use in investigations with this update. This item is the Dowsing Rods, which are designed to help you locate the bone hidden on the map. Like other equipment items, this one comes with three unique tiers. Tier I will only point you in the general direction of the bone, while Tier III will give you a much more accurate location, including the specific floor.
  • Sound Sensor improvements – Sound Sensors are getting some massive upgrades with the Resonance update. The UI for the Sound Sensors map, which can be viewed from the truck, is being overhauled to better display precise, accurate details, sure to help make investigations easier. The map will now mark specific spots where sounds are being heard with small, pulsing circle icons highlighting exactly where the ghost is making noise. Sounds that only happen once will appear briefly before disappearing, while looping noises will stay active as long as they’re still going. The updated Sound Sensor map will also help you determine the ghost’s speed of movement, which in turn helps make identifying them easier.
  • Voice Recognition update – The Voice Recognition feature, which allows you to directly communicate with the ghost, is getting some improvements. You’ll now be able to specifically instruct the ghost to interact with nearby assets to signify their presence. These phrases work for voice and text modes. Valid phrases are also being added to the Journal to help you keep track of what you can say to get the ghost to respond.
  • Map pool changes – If you can’t decide which map you want to play on, you can now select and add as many maps as you want to the pool to let the game pick one for you. There are also new filters to help you easily find only small, medium, or large maps.
  • Unity 6 transition – Phasmophobia is making the switch to Unity 6 with the Resonance update. This means massive improvements to the overall experience, specifically for features like stability and performance. This upgrade has also drastically improved lighting, providing a more realistic and immersive experience for players.
  • Bug fixes – This update will include lots of bug fixes for issues players have been encountering. Specific fixes haven’t been revealed yet, but will be in the patch notes that launch for Resonance.
