Animal Crossing is visiting the 3DS in 2012

I won’t lie here, I’m really excited for a new Animal Crossing. I still play my original Gamecube copy of the first game, though my grass is often way too abundant to bother pulling. This upcoming 3DS entry will, of course, provide more of the same village simulating action, but with the benefits of the 3DS including improved visuals and greater networking capabilities.

From a gameplay angle, this new Animal Crossing will allow players to “become the head of the village and boost its development.” A broader perspective in the village should add a neat spin to the series. You’ll also be able to install specific items throughout the village to give it some character as well as visit homes that have been collected via StreetPass. Fingers crossed for a good one here come 2012… whenever we get it.
