It’s important to know what messing with Forest Minions does so you can be prepared before you reveal them. They have some surprisingly potent abilities capable of altering the course of the entire round. If you’re wondering what they can do, here are all of the Cursed Hollow Forest Minion effects in Phasmophobia.

All Forest Minions grant you some kind of blessing or curse when you reveal them in Phasmophobia. This primarily includes a direct increase or decrease to your sanity, but there’s a bit more to it depending on the exact behaviors the Forest Minion exhibits.

You can essentially think of them as Tarot Cards since they work in a similar way. Each Forest Minion’s effects are completely random, so you could get several blessings or several curses in a row. Here are all of the behaviors you may see a Forest Minion exhibit and what each one does.

Forest Minion jumping and screeching effect in Phasmophobia

If a Forest Minion jumps directly at you and lets out a loud screeching sound, it curses you and deducts 10 percent of your sanity. You need to be careful if you run into multiple Forest Spirits performing this behavior in a row because this can quickly drain your sanity and may lead to a much earlier ghost hunt than expected.

Forest Minion running off effect in Phasmophobia

A Forest Minion that runs off to the side is a blessing and restores five percent sanity. It’s a small amount, which means it’s not always easy to notice this happening, but your sanity is slightly boosted every time a Forest Minion does this.

Golden Forest Minion effect in Phasmophobia

A ghost hunt is immediately triggered if you come across a golden Forest Minion that sort of sparkles and explodes. This Forest Minion effect is quite rare, but it really comes down to luck, which means there’s always a chance you could get unlucky and see this one a lot more often than most other players.

Ghost events and interactions Forest Minion effect in Phasmophobia

In addition to the previously mentioned effects, most or all Forest Minion encounters also seem to cause a ghost event or interaction to occur right after. It’s a bit tough to tell for sure if it happens every time since this effect could be occurring somewhere on the map far away from your location. But based on my testing, it seems like all Forest Minion encounters are followed by some kind of ghost activity right after.

I’ve noticed two specific incidents where the Forest Minion jumped off to the side, and a ghost event/interaction occurred immediately after. During the first encounter, the Forest Minion jumped off to the side, and a light sitting on the end table right where it jumped turned on as it passed through. The second encounter was a full-on ghost event where the Forest Spirit ghost materialized in front of me.

Since some Forest Minion effects are more common than others, it’s possible there are additional ones we haven’t discovered yet. If we come across any additional effects for them as the event progresses, they’ll be added here.

Revealing as many Forest Minions as possible is important for contributing event points in the Cursed Hollow event. You can’t avoid them if you want to earn the limited rewards, but you can approach them with caution and watch out for these effects to ensure you don’t end up the victim of an untimely ghost hunt.
