GameStop boss says DLC will reach $6.4 billion by 2014

The president of retailer Gamestop, Tony Bartel, says that the annual value of downloadable content will reach $6.4 billion by 2014. That means that we’re going to be pulling down much more in content than we do now, as the global value of DLC stands at about $3 billion presently. I hope those future game systems have bigger hard disks!

Bartel’s comments come via a report commissioned as part of the upcoming Cloud Gaming USA event in San Jose, says Develop. He will be joining several other industry pros at the event. Gaikai boss David Perry, EA creative boss Richard Hilleman, THQ CEO Brian Farrell, Atari’s Nolan Bushnel, top brass from Microsoft Studios, Foundation 9 and more are scheduled to appear.
