You know what the PSP needs? That’s right, even more Firmware! It’s only been a few weeks since the last intrusive update, so let’s have another. This time around, it’s v6.00, and as usual, it doesn’t add very much of interest at all.
Here is what Sony’s Eric Lempel says we can expect from the new Firmware:
- For those of you looking to customize your XMB (XrossMediaBar), a few new colors will be added under the Theme Settings. These new theme colors can be used on PSP models 2000 or after (PSP-2000, 3000 and N1000).
- A security patch has been added.
- [Network Update] has been renamed as [System Update].
People who are not Sony make the update sound slightly more interesting with news that you can also sort downloadable games into folders, which is doubtless being set up in time for the arrival of PSP Minis and the PSP’s push as a key digital platform. It won’t have much use now, but eventually you’ll be able to sort your games into PSOne Classics, PSP Minis and original PSP games.
So yeah. The best feature is one you’re not going to need for a while. I love Firmware updates.
