Can you save the dog in the Resident Evil 4 remake? – Answered

Good dog

The dog is such a classic part of the original Resident Evil 4 experience, it would be crazy if Capcom left it out of the remake. Well, they didn’t! It’s just in a different spot this time around. Here’s where to find the dog and how to set it free so that it can help you later on.

You can save the dog at the very start of Chapter 3, to the side of the Village Chief’s house

As soon as you start Chapter 3, you’ll have the opportunity to leave the Village Chief’s house through two ways: the front door, or the back door (next to the bathroom under the stairs).

You can head out either exit, but make sure you go to the side of the house to save the dog (you can hear it whimpering audibly as you exit the house). Walk up to it and interact with it to help save it from the trap. It’ll run off into the bushes (where you can’t follow) and will be safe and sound. Leon even gives it a few words of encouragement to boot (take care of yourself, buddy).

It’s great to see that all of the fears of the dog automatically dying at the start of the game are quelled!
