Another PSP model is in the works, but don’t get your hopes up

According to the FCC, Sony is planning on rolling out another PlayStation Portable model. If you were hoping for a sexy new redesign on par with the shift from the original PSP to the Slim, I’m sorry to disappoint, but this isn’t it.

The PSP-3001 looks no different physically from the Slim, but it’s been assumed that there will be major changes made to the inner parts in an effort to lower production costs and stop piracy.

Seeing as how being able to run homebrew games and applications is one of the major draws to the PSP, it might be wise to wait and see how this new model turns out before you get overly excited.

Then again, who’s to say another team won’t be able to exploit the PSP-3001?
