Remakes! New stuff!

Pokémon pretty much has it made.

It has a huge history, and enough nostalgia to mine forever. Having a good cadence of “remakes, and new stuff” is pretty much perfect at this point. And they delivered both today.

Here’s a full recap, including all the ancillary announcements before the big ones.

• We got another look at New Pokémon Snap, which will have items that allow you to make Pokémon (and their effects) glow, and will grant style bonuses for unique pictures. Celebi is also confirmed, and it’s still on track for April 30.

• Pokémon Sword and Shield are holding Gigantamax Pikachu battles.

• Pokémon Cafe Mix will grant you 2,500 Golden Acorns for logging in.

• Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and Mewtwo are appearing in Pokémon Go as a Kanto event.

• In Pokémon Masters EX, Leon and Charizard will make an appearance.

Alright, and the big stuff!

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl remakes are happening.

And we got confirmation of a new project bound for “early 2022,” which involves an earlier version of the Sinnoh region. It’s called Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
