It looks like new Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry are on the horizon

Ubisoft has five major games to release in its next fiscal year. Let’s count ’em: Watch Dogs: Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine, Gods & Monsters…and that’s it. Two triple-A titles will be announced, marketed, and released before April 2021.

According to Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, these two mystery games are no real surprise:

A Viking-themed Assassin’s Creed has been a poorly kept secret for nearly a year now. That one was all but a-given. However, it seems as though we’re in for a new Far Cry in the near future. Considering that Far Cry 5 led Ubisoft’s sales in 2018, it tracks that Ubisoft would be eager to get another one out the door.

Three of these games will launch in this calendar year’s holiday season, and the other two will launch between January and March 2021. Of the two major unannounced titles, conventional wisdom seems to point toward Assassin’s Creed in the fall and Far Cry in the spring. The last three Far Cry entries (Far Cry Primal, Far Cry 5, and Far Cry New Dawn) all released early in the year.

There’s also a peek behind the curtain of sorts based on what doesn’t have a release date. It’s no real shock to anyone, but Ubisoft confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 won’t debut before April 2021. Skull and Bones wasn’t mentioned; multiple delays and Ubisoft staying mum lead to inevitable questions about whether that project is in jeopardy. Or maybe it’s just not much of a priority when the biggest ships in its fleet, Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed, are the ones that keep everything afloat.
