Square Enix trademarks ‘Collection of Mana’ in Europe

Could the classic trilogy be headed west?

This past weekend, Square Enix filed a trademark in Europe for “Collection of Mana”, following on from a similar trademark filed in Japan back in February of this year.

While this of course is no official announcement or confirmation of anything – trademarks are filed by companies all of the time “just because” – it also points to the possibility that the long-time publisher plans to localise the 2017 Seiken Densetsu Collection for the west.

Released for Nintendo Switch in 2017, the collection consists of the three Seiken Densetsu titles: Seiken Densetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden (Mystic Quest), Seiken Densetsu 2 (Secret of Mana) and finally Seiken Densetsu 3, which has never seen release outside of Japan. Here’s hoping that this is more than a frivolous legal maneuver, and that we’ll be hearing exciting news about these classic RPGs soon.
