Tarstones are a key part of your build in Mortal Shell 2, and using the correct ones is necessary if you want to clear the midgame and endgame content. Tarstones have different categories, and your choices will be limited. However, you’ll get more of them on your adventurers.
In this guide, I will go through the best Tarstones. I have collected and used all of them, but there are certainly few that are stronger than the rest.

Best Tarstones to use in Mortal Shell 2
As I mentioned, Tarstones come in different categories. For this guide, I have only considered General and Combat Tarstones. The reason is simple: Infusions are highly shell-reliant. Barring a few shells, most of them have limited options when it comes to Infusion Tarstones.
Devout Stone

Any Tarstone that helps you regain Resolve faster is pretty useful, and the Devout Stone does that pretty well. At max level, you’ll generate 28 Resolve when you kill an enemy with your Sidearm.
While I don’t use my Sidearm frequently, here’s a simple trick. Once an enemy is near death (just one shot away), switch to your Sidearm. That way, you’re guaranteed a kill and also generate a lot of Resolve if the Devout Stone is at max level.
Berserker’s Stone

I use a lot of melee-focused build in the game. My favorite shells are Tiel and Proxima, and they work well when you get close to the enemy. While melee builds are great at what they do, you always run the risk of taking hits and losing your health.
At max level, the Berserker’s Stone boosts your melee damage (all weapons and attacks) to 165% when your health is below 50%. While it could happen that you’re not getting the benefits as your health might be high, the Berserker’s Stone is extremely helpful in boss battles.
Headsman’s Stone

Unlike the Berserker’s Stone, Headsman’s works well at every level of health. Moreover, it’s a staple of any good crit-focused build. At max level, all your Melee attacks will do +100% damage.
Once you get your crit chance high, the Headsman’s Stone becomes better. With higher chances, more attacks will do crit damage, which results in a stronger hit with this Tarstone.
Grudge Stone

Most combat Tarstones are very shell-specific choices, but I like the Grudge Stone. It works with both ranged and melee, and at max level, every fifth attack is a guaranteed crit hit.
If you combine this with the Headsman’s Stone, you’ll do a lot of extra damage to all enemies.
While using the best Tarstones will give you an edge, you’ll also need to pick the correct shells and weapons. After all, the effectiveness of any Tarstone will always depend on the shells and weapons being used.
